One of the best amenities at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa are their pools. There's nothing like floating down the lazy river. Unlike other Disney Resorts, Aulani is not connected to a Disney Park.

Did you know that the pools are going to be under refurbishment? From August 19th to December 17th, 2019 the Pools and Whirlpool Spas will be under refurbishment.

Here is the schedule:

So you might be asking well what is there to do then?
The good news is there is a schedule for which and when the pools will be under refurbishment. They won't be closing them all at once so you'll still have beach and pool options.
Aulani, also has a lot to do around the resort. One of our favorite things to do is eat.

'Ama 'Ama is one of the restaurants on the resort. This one overlooks the beach and just has a gorgeous view. Our favorites to get are the 'Ama 'Ama chop salad and the lobster roll. It is oh so delicious. The last time we were here we also tried the Honokaa warm honey mochi cake.

It comes with an azuki gelato, haupia, caramel, and toasted coconut. If you still have room it's a must try.
We've also tried the Off the Hook Bar and Lounge recently and it was quite yummy.

My husband had the truffle burger with their famous onion rings. He loved it.
I tried the Crab Louie Salad

It was also very good but on the smaller side. It also had a kick so if you don't like spicy this might not be for you. I would get the truffle burger the next time.

You can also stop by Ulu Cafe which is more of a quick serve place. They have mickey shaped spam musubis, desserts, and so much more.

The Makahiki also has character dining and that is great as well. There are lots of options.
There are a few food closures. They are as follows.
October 14 to December 17 Makahiki – The Bounty of the Islands—will add table-service lunch
‘Ama ‘Ama – Contemporary Island Cooking—will open at 5:00 PM
Off the Hook—will open at 5:00 PM
Pāpālua Shave Ice—will be relocated to the Wailana Pool Bar
Lava Shack—will close until December 18
Mama’s Snack Stop—will close until December 18
Besides eating you can also meet Disney characters for free. There is a dedicated hotline that will tell you who will be meeting and where. I love this about Aulani. We recently stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and I called the front office and they couldn't tell me if there were any characters, where they would be or what time. Sounds like they roam around.

Rascal experiment 626 is often out as well as Moana.

You can also meet Mickey, Minnie and Shellie May and Duffy. We've stayed at Aulani quite a few times and have yet to see Shellie May or Duffy.
At the Pau Hana Room you can sign up for free or paid classes. We've taken Ukulele classes but my favorite by far is their Animation class. It's similar to the one at Disneyland but you have to sign up in the morning for a spot and its 1 hour long.

You get taken through a class where you get to draw a character and you also get to paint an animation cell. It is so neat.

See my other blog for more details.
At the Pau Hana Room you can also rent a scavenger hunt tablet. It creates Disney Magic as you help Aunty.
The Luau Ka Wa'a should also still be open. There is a lot to do and see around the resort that will still make it worth while to come out for a visit.
